Archfield House Nursery Chef
Helen is our wonderful chef at Archfield House Nursery. She works full time and has the responsibility for preparing healthy snacks, a nutritious midday meal and also a tasty tea for all of our nursery children.
Helen has been interested in cooking from a young age and studied catering full time at college after finishing school, having worked in all kinds of catering environments she began working in a nursery as the chef in 2006 and this is where her passion for planning and cooking healthy nutritious food for early years began.
Helen worked with the Early Years Nutrition Partnership gaining the cache award Level 2 – Prepare Meals to meet Current Nutritional Standards in Early Years Setting and Level 3 – Promote Nutrition and hydration in Early Years and Childcare settings . She was also the first in the country to receive the specialist award for her nursery.
Helen provides a healthy and nutritionally balanced diet using as much fresh produce as possible and ensuring that there is no added salt, sugar or artificial additives. She works from a rolling four week menu plan that she designed herself, which is adapted according to seasonal foods where applicable.
Helen caters for dietary needs and provides nutritiously balanced alternative meals for vegetarians/vegans. She also provides a specialised weaning program where applicable for our youngest babies in conjunction with their key person and parents/carers.
Helen always welcomes parents to come and talk about any specific dietary requirements or even just to find out more about the food and food activities that we provide at Archfield House Nursery.
