Settling your child

A key stage in your child’s early life is when they go to nursery for the first time. At Archfield we like all children to feel safe and happy when they come to nursery and to feel secure and comfortable with all of the staff as well as the other children. The nursery staff will work with you to help support your child during the settling-in process. We welcome you and your child to visit the nursery as much as you feel necessary before your child’s official start date.

Before your child starts their visits to Archfield we will send you some information about your child’s room including a useful list of items to bring with your child. During your child’s first visit we encourage parents/ carers to tell us everything you wish to about your child’s likes, dislikes, how they like to be comforted and all the individual things that make your little one special and an individual.

Each family will be given a key person to help ensure that every child’s care is tailored to meet their individual needs, to help your child become familiar with the setting, offer a settled relationship for your child and build a relationship with you.  We recognise that loving, stable, secure, stimulating and rewarding relationships with our families and caregivers in the earliest months and years in life are critical for almost all aspects of a child’s development.
